Mortgage - John Morry to Matthew Morry & Co - 1816

Know All Men by these presents that we Matthew Morry & Co of Dartmouth Merchants but carrying on Trade in Capelin Bay in the Island of Newfoundland are held and firmly bound to John Morry of Dartmouth aforesaid in the sum of Six Hundred & fifty nine Pounds, Eighteen Shillings and two-pence of lawful money of Great-Britain to be paid to the said John Morry or his certain attorney, Executors Administrators or Assigns for which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our Heirs Executors administrators or assigns firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seal --- Dated this Twentieth day of August in the fifty sixth year of our sovereign Lord, George the Third King of Great Britain &c &c and in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixteen.

           And Know ye also for Security of the aforesaid Sum of Six Hundred & Fifty Nine Pounds Eighteen Shillings and two pence Sterling we do hereby sell and make over to the aforesaid John Morry our fishing Rooms situated at the Head of Capelin Bay together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to him and to his Heirs for ever.

           The Condition of this obligation is such if the above bound Matthew Morry & Co their Heirs Executors, Administrators or Assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the above named John Morry his Executors Administrators or Assigns the full sum of Six hundred and fifty nine Pounds Eighteen Shillings and two-pence of lawful British money with lawful Interest for the same on the fourteenth day of December next ensuing the date of the above written obligation, then this Obligation shall be void and of none effect or else shall be and remain in full force and virtue.
