Family History: It appears that Terrence (O')Toole was the ancestor of the Caplin Bay O'Tooles. It is not known if he came directly from Ireland or if he might have been born in Newfoundland. Although there were O' Tooles at Renews, it doesn't appear that he was related to that family. There were, however, O'Tooles who settled in other areas of Newfoundland (in particular the Torbay area and St. John's) who bore the forenames of Terrence and Felix. None of the documents identify the name of Terrence's wife and therefore it is not known if she was from Caplin Bay. The O'Tooles at Caplin Bay were a fairly large family group at one time. However, several O'Toole men emigrated to the U.S., and the remaining families at Calvert had few male children to carry on the surname, which disappeared over time.
Present Status: There are no O'Toole families left at Calvert now, however, there are a number of descendants of Terrence O'Toole at Calvert, throughout other parts of Newfoundland and the rest of Canada, and the U.S.A.
