The Point, Calvert, Newfoundland - circa mid 1930s

The Point A photo taken from The Beach looking towards The Point, on the South Side of Calvert, Newfoundland. The Point area was referred to in earlier documents as Nashes or Natches, an obvious reference to the fishing plantation owned by Thomas Nash in the latter half of the 18th century. The fishing stage and boats in the foreground probably belonged to James Power (of James Power and Ellen Walsh).
