Keough's Cove, Calvert, Newfoundland - circa mid 1930s

shamrock.gif

The Point A photo taken from the South Side of Calvert, Newfoundland, looking north-west across Keough's Cove towards The Beach. This shot was taken from the area that was Nashes Plantation in the 1700s and part of Morry's Fishing Room in the 1800s. The property in the foreground that eventually became Keough's Cove was likely used by the Sweetland for their fishing enterprise. It appears that the property to the north-west (towards The Beach and running westward to the Old Woman's Pond) was held by the Tree family of Boston and Ferryland until the second half of the 1800s.
