  • Notes  Married:
    • The record below gives the first clear indication of where the "Readigan" family had settled in Ferryland District, and it also identifies their county of origin in Ireland. The surviving marriage record for Mary and John was recorded on a pre-printed form found in a Misc. Book of Marriages located in The Rooms Archives at St. John's. It reads as follows:
"Marriage solemnized at 'Aquafort' in the Island of Newfoundland. This is to Certify That 'John Mullaly of Co. Kilkenny Ireland' and 'Mary Readigan of said County' were Married at 'Ferryland' this '11 of November' in the Year of our Lord 182'5'. By me, 'Timothy Browne, Clergyman in Holy Orders'.
This marriage was solemnized between us, 'John--X--Mullaly' Mary--X--Readigan'
In the presence of us, 'John Condon' - 'Mary--X--Walsh' - Witnesses present at the said Marriage"
      .

Although no specific children's names have been found for this couple, it appears, from some general references that they likely had at least two daughters and two sons. However, no records have been found that give any details of them later in life.

    Residence:
    • Registry of Deeds - Southern District Vol. 1; Fol 445-446
This deed shows that on May 23, 1836, John "Maloly" sold his property at "Aquafort" to Anna Winsor for 11-10-0.
    • On October 21, 1846, Martin Conway was charged with beating two minor sons of John Mullally of Ferryland.
    • On Sept. 5, 1865, John and Mary, living in St. John's, sold their house and property at Ferryland to William Reid. (Registry of Deeds - Southern District - Volume 5 - Folio 73).
