Census |
1799/1800 |
Ferryland, Newfoundland [1] |
- In the list of resident families enumerated in 1799/1800, Daniel 'Sanders', who appears to be a widower, was living at Ferryland with his two sons, Robert (17) and William (11), and his only known daughter, Ann (10).
While it doesn't appear that Daniel was employed during the 'fishery off season' of 1799/1800, his eldest son, Robert, was a servant of the Ferryland merchant, Thomas Norris.
Daniel's involvement in the seasonal fishery at Ferryland in 1800, shows him as a crew member of the Public Bait Skiff, under a master named Edmund Wallace. His son, Robert, was also involved in the 1800 fishery. He was the boat master of a three-hand skiff, owned and operated by Matthew Morry &Co., of Caplin Bay.
