JOHN'S AND OTHER AREAS: Johnston, John; Ferryland Grant, Mary; Caplin Bay - November 25, 1883 - Joseph Rossiter & Frances Kieley. Although the marriage record appears to indicate that John was from Ferryland, he was born at Caplin Bay. At times, priests in St. John's often recorded the parish name instead of the actual hometown. The marriage record also says that Mary Grant was from Caplin Bay, however research gives no indication that a Grant family ever lived there. The Grant families of Ferryland parish lived at Cape Broyle and Brigus South.
