  Robert Carter's Journal reported that on the 29 July 1846 "David Hearn died at Caplin bay after a long tedious illness, a native of that place."

  Notes	On December 24, 1828, a letter of instruction (later deemed a valid will) was written by John Morry to his uncle Matthew Morry, just before he set sail on a voyage to England. John informed his uncle Matt what his present business situation was, what should be attended to while he was absent, and what to do if he was lost at sea and did not return. In this document, there is mention of a name that I believe to be that of David Hearne (transcribed as David Hearse on another website}. David Hearne appears to be employed by John Morry for the summer fishery. The instructions stated, "David Hearne is agreed to go in the Boat Dart for £7.10 p[er] hundred, to have four men and one boy; to split his own fish." It appears that the boat, Dart, belonged to the Morry enterprise since later in his letter, he tells his uncle; "The Darts sails & craft are in Mr. Holdworth store." (Kevin Reddigan) David died in 1846, but there is no clear indication if he was married and had any family. However, writings by Mr. Jim Joe O'Brien of Cape Broyle noted that an O'Brien girl from there was married to a Hearne from Caplin Bay. If his assertion is correct, this man could only be David Hearne.
