- John Barry - Royal Gazette - July 3 1855: Inquest at St. Mary's Bay on the body of this resident of Caplin Bay. He was one of the crew of the boat belonging to Mr. Morry of Caplin Bay which capsized. Another newspaper article states that he was swept overboard and drowned.

- Per the newspaper report, John's body was recovered. Although the report says he was a resident of Caplin Bay, it doesn't appear that he was living there in 1855. Other evidence seems to indicate that he and his family were living in St. John's.
