- "Died, on Saturday morning last, after a lingering illness, deeply regretted by his brother Officers and acquaintance, Assistant Surgeon James Coulter Strachan of the Royal Veteran Companies, aged 33 years. - His remains were attended to the burial ground, yesterday, by a great number of the respectable inhabitants, and interred with Military Honours."

My great great grandfather James Strachan, b. Banff, Scotland, m. Mary (or Jane Mary) Winter, dau of George Winter, Mary remarried to Saunders, 2 dau's married William Budden, 1 married a brother of William Budden. Son of James & Mary was William George James Coulter Strachan, b. 1826, emigrated with par to Canada approx 1830, emigrated to Australia approx 1860, m. Eliza Jane Lempra or Lampra, they had 12 children. I have descendants of the 12 ch. Believe James was a Doctor, died soon after arrival in Canada. Please, can anyone help.
