| Notes |
- When Alfred left Ferryland it looks like he travelled much farther than his siblings, most of whom settled in St. John's. It appears that he ended up in Portland, Maine where he worked as a blacksmith. By 1915, Alfred was established in the smithy business in partnership with Joseph J. Smith. He had at least two daugthers, who were still living at home.
