Anita (Canning) Kelland

KELLAND, Anita Mary (nee Canning) - December 2, 1937 - February 23, 2012. Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving and devoted daughters Rhonda, Lynn and special family friend, Louise at Masonic Park Nursing Home, on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at age 74. Left with a lifetime of beautiful memories are daughters: Rhonda (John Swain, Mount Pearl), Lynn (Danny Swain, Goulds) and son Ken (Debbie Kelland, New Orleans, Louisiana). Her greatest legacy will forever be remembered by her precious grandchildren: Sasha (Dale Paul), Robin (Joo-Young Chun), Samantha (fiance Andrew Sweetapple), Courtney LeSassier and Chelsea Kelland. Anita was the proud great-grandmother to Alexandra Paul and Kobe Sterling. Also left with loving memories are sisters: Ida (Tom Sullivan), Jean Kenny, and brother-in-law Mike Brophy, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Predeceased by parents Leonard and Marcella Canning of Calvert, and sisters Mary Walsh, Philomena Brophy, Alfreda O'Neill, and brothers-in-law Frank Walsh, Mike O'Neill and Clifford Kenny. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of Masonic Park Nursing Home for their compassionate and gracious care and to Louise Pinhorn, for giving so much of yourself to provide friendship and extra attention to our wonderful Mom. Cremation has already taken place and she will be resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, in Mount Pearl from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Flowers graciously accepted or donations can be made in Anita's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27th, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church, in Calvert, with reception to follow in Calvert Hall.
