Kate's death record states that she was 73 when she died in 1929, therefore she was born about 1856. This date is probably more accurate than the date given in the 1921 census (May 1861). No record can be found of her birth in the Renews RC Baptisms - which go back to 1857. Based on the Renews marriage records, Kate would appear to have been the daughter of Andrew Oates and Bridget (Bridgeman) Maddigan and the older sister of Anne Oates who married Joseph Rossiter.
Catherine married Patrick Rossiter 13 Jan 1878, Renews, Newfoundland. Patrick (son of Michael Rossiter and Mary MacNamara) was born Abt 1850, Fermeuse, Newfoundland; died 21 Apr 1908, Fermeuse, Newfoundland. [Group Sheet]

Frances is listed in the 1935 Census as the sister of Patrick Rossiter (born 1900) and living with him and his father Michael (born 1874). Her age is listed as 54 which means she was born about 1881. There is no record for a Rossiter with this name in any of the Renews baptism records. Based on her age she is unlikely to be Patrick's sister but probably his aunt - his father's sister. In the 1921 Census, his father's sister is listed as Mary Rossiter (single) born Nov. 1889 (actual date Nov 1878) living with her mother (Patrick's grandmother, Catherine Oates Rossiter).
