Notes:
Birth:
This individual stated he was born in Newfoundland but his age is given as 40 supposedly born June 1859. He was single and working as a farm hand.He indicated that he had emigrated in 1888, which was the same year that Samuel and Mary Joe Denine and family emigrated to Idaho.
Immigration:
Although no immigration record has been found to date, it appears Garrett traveled to Idaho at the same time as his brother Samuel and family. He stated it was in 1888.
Census:
In this census, Garrett was recorded as being born in Jun 1859? in Newfoundland. He was living alone and working as a farm laborer, as were most of the others people who are listed, so this may not have been his permanent address. He indicated he had entered the US in 1888. Both of his parents were noted (incorrectly) as being born in Ireland, a common error which seems to have been committed by enumerators who probably recorded that answer because of the individual's accent.
Census:
In the 1920 census, I found an individual who was recorded as Garret Deniana. He was 70, had been born in English Canada, and had entered the United States in 1889. He was a roomer in the residence and said he was unemployed.
