  1. 1.  Catherine [-?-] was born Abt 1834; died 26 Feb 1886, Caplin Bay, Newfoundland; was buried Abt 28 Feb 1886, Non-denominational Cemetery, Ferryland, Ferryland District, Newfoundland, Canada.

    Notes:

    Died:
Based on a St. John's newspaper obituary, Catherine Evoy of Caplin Bay, Newfoundland, died on 26 Feb 1886. On March 2, The Evening Telegram states: "At Caplin Bay, 26th inst., after a lingering illness, Catherine, relict of the late John Evoy, aged 52 years."

The online image on page 4 of this newspaper is very faded so the possibility exists that Catherine could be 62 years old. However, it appears likely that her late husband, John Evoy, a son of Patrick Evoy and Catherine Poor (Power) wasn't born until the early 1830s, so he would have been quite a bit younger than Catherine.

Catherine married John Evoy Yes, date unknown. John (son of Patrick Evoy and Catherine Power) was born Aft 1829, Caplin Bay, Newfoundland; died Bef 1886, Caplin Bay, Newfoundland; was buried Bef 1886. [Group Sheet]

Generation: 2

  1. 2.  Thomas Evoy Descendancy chart to this point (1.Catherine1) was born Yes, date unknown, Caplin Bay, Newfoundland; died Yes, date unknown; was buried Yes, date unknown.

    Notes:

Thomas Evoy was the godfather at the 1872 baptism of James Kelly, son of Martin Kelly and Anastasia Kane. I suspect that Thomas married Martin Kelly's sister, Catherine, in 1874.

Thomas Evoy appears to be the last male bearing that surname recorded in the Ferryland area. I have speculated that he was likely the son of John Evoy, and grandson of Patrick and Catherine Evoy of Caplin Bay. No later records have been found to prove or disprove this possibility. All references to the Evoy surname disappeared from Ferryland District church records after the baptism of Thomas' daughter in 1878.

Thomas married Catherine "Kate" Kelly 2 Nov 1874, Holy Trinity RC Parish, Ferryland, Newfoundland. Catherine (daughter of James Kelly and Catherine Delahunty) was born Yes, date unknown, Ferryland, Newfoundland; died Yes, date unknown; was buried Yes, date unknown. [Group Sheet]
