Someone had noted in book that date may be Feb 29. Since 1790 wasn't a leap year, this cannot be correct; Feb 28 is most likely date.(KR)

| 14. | Tryphena Elizabeth Spencer Sweetland (4.Benjamin2, 1.Anne1) was born 11 Nov 1832, Caplin Bay, Newfoundland; died 13 May 1907, St. John's, Newfoundland; was buried Abt 15 May 1907, St. John's, Newfoundland. Other Events:
- Baptism: 15 Dec 1832, St. Luke's CE Parish, Ferryland, Newfoundland
- Baptism: 1840, Trinity, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland
Notes:
Birth:
It appears that her birth year was 1832 even though her headstone states she was born 11 Nov 1833.
Baptism:
This is a "second" baptism, transcribed in the DPHW books for St. Paul's Church of England parish at Trinity, Trinity Bay. It indicates a Tryphena Elizabeth "Frances" Sweetland was baptised there in 1840. However, her full name was spread over two lines which created the illusion that two children "Tryphena Elizabeth" AND "Frances" had been baptised. This record has created much confusion since it also suggests that the "first" Tryphena, who was baptised at Ferryland in 1832, must have died. However, based on the Vital Statistic death record at St. John's, Tryphena was 74 when she died in May 1907. When her birth year is calculated, using her age and the year in which she turned 74 (i.e. 1906), her birth and baptism year match the references to Trypnena Sweetland baptised at Ferryland in 1832.
Died:
Tryphena's death record states that she was 74 and she was born at Ferryland.
Tryphena married Alexander Warren Bremner 2 Jun 1860, Trinity, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland. Alexander was born 1 Sep 1828, Catalina, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland; died 5 Oct 1885, St. John's, Newfoundland; was buried Abt 7 Oct 1885, St. John's, Newfoundland. [Group Sheet]
